Our surroundings can absorb and hold onto energy, both positive and negative. Over time, this accumulation can impact our well-being, affecting mood, productivity, and even sleep.
Sage and other herbs like Palo Santo with their centuries-old reputation, have the incredible ability to clear negative energy. Its smoke attaches to and neutralizes any lingering vibes, leaving your space feeling refreshed and balanced.
Burning herbs indoors? Absolutely! Ensure safety by using a shell or metal container filled with sand to catch any ashes. Always extinguish thoroughly and never leave unattended.
For a consistently harmonious space, consider repeating these rituals seasonally or after periods of intense emotions or energy.
Smudging How To
Begin with a physical cleaning of your space.
Start by smudging yourself, including the bottoms of your feet.
Move clockwise around your space, starting in the east, fanning the smoke with your hand or a feather.
Recite an affirmation or incantation, like the one I use: "Smoke of air, fire of earth, cleanse and bless this home and hearth. Drive away all harm and fear, only good may enter here."
Let the smoke linger for 10 minutes.
Open doors and windows to let in fresh air.
Follow-Up with Sweetgrass to invite the good vibes back into the space:
Burn sweetgrass in each room, expressing intentions for good health, wealth, and prosperity. Feel free to add your personal touch with additional intentions.
Alternative Method - Clearing Spray:
If smoke isn't an option, consider a clearing spray from your favorite metaphysical shop or make your own with sage and tree oils. Mist each room, fanning the mist as you would with smoke.
